In Camponogara, Italy, 39-year-old Tania Terrin was murdered in her home by her ex-partner, 43-year-old Dino Keber, who strangled her before committing suicide by hanging at his residence in Dolo. The victim’s family had filed between seven and eight complaints with the Carabinieri regarding Keber’s behavior over the previous two years. Records indicate that Keber allegedly attempted to strangle Terrin in April, resulting in a formal complaint and a medical certificate. Additionally, the Questore of Venice had issued a formal warning to Keber in June to cease his domestic violence conduct. Terrin had also expressed fear of her ex-partner to neighbors via WhatsApp, warning them not to open the door for him.

Following the tragedy, the Veneto Region declared a day of regional mourning. Regional President Luca Zaia characterized the incident as a ‘failure’ of the system and called for stricter laws and more effective state intervention to protect women reporting violence.
