Piana del Sele drug and weapons crackdown leads to arrests

Carabinieri officers conducted an operation in the Piana del Sele region, resulting in arrests related to drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession. The investigation involved units from Agropoli, Eboli, and Capaccio-Paestum, supported by the Sarno K9 unit.

A 38-year-old man from Eboli and a 24-year-old Moroccan woman face charges for the possession of narcotics for sale. During a vehicle stop near Capaccio-Paestum, authorities seized 2.4 kg of cocaine and crack, along with 1,820 euros in cash. A subsequent search of the Moroccan national's residence uncovered additional hashish, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana hidden in various locations, including a washing machine and a dog house. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after assaulting a Carabinier.

Further investigations in Eboli led to the discovery of nearly one kilogram of cocaine and crack, cash, and three weapons with ammunition inside a garage linked to the 38-year-old suspect. Several associates, including the suspect's wife and mother-in-law, were also involved in the investigation.
