Piedmont Beef District Secures Commitment from Over 50 Municipalities

More than 50 municipalities and 24 agricultural associations in the Piedmont region have signed on to a project to create a dedicated district for Piemontese cattle beef. The protocol was signed by the lead municipalities of Carmagnola and Racconigi in the Royal Greenhouses of Racconigi Castle and will be forwarded to the Regione Piemonte for final approval. The district aims to network farmers, meat processors, local authorities and industry bodies to boost product quality, competitiveness of farms, and promote the territory’s culinary heritage, with expected new economic and tourism opportunities.

The municipality of Moretta has also joined the initiative, with mayor Gianni Gatti and local officials attending preparatory meetings ahead of the formal signing in Carmagnola. The programme follows national Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry guidelines to strengthen regional agri‑food chains, improve access to funding, and support young people in agriculture.

Once approved, an association will be constituted in Racconigi to manage the district’s activities and oversee collaborative projects among members.
