Piedmont Region completes 71 PNRR health projects in VCO

The Region of Piedmont announced that all 71 projects funded by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) in the Verbano‑Cusio‑Ossola (VCO) area have been finished. Across the whole region, 2,419 projects have been managed with €1.78 billion of funding; the VCO interventions total €37 million. Key facilities include the Community Hospital in Verbania, new Community Houses in Omegna, Verbania and Domodossola, and upgraded medical equipment such as CT scanners and mammography units.

Union representatives from FNP CISL Piemonte Orientale highlighted that, while the new Community Houses improve territorial health services, staffing shortages, long specialist wait‑times and “health poverty” remain serious challenges. They called for long‑term investment plans and adequate placement of doctors and nurses to ensure the new centres relieve pressure on hospitals.

The report also notes 11,281 beneficiaries of the Garanzia Occupabilità dei Lavoratori program, with more than half securing employment longer than six months, and several projects aimed at energy‑efficient public housing in the area.
