Puglia and Piemonte launch major ecological and UNESCO initiatives

The Puglia Region has approved an additional 19.7 million euros to bolster its green infrastructure strategy, bringing the total investment to 41.1 million euros. This funding, part of the PR Puglia 2021-2027 program, targets urban, coastal, and regional ecological networks. The initiative aims to increase green spaces by 588 hectares, plant over 260,000 trees, and de-impermeabilize 107,000 square meters of surface area to enhance climate change resilience.

In Piemonte, regional authorities have launched a pilot project to integrate environmental protection with sustainable economic development through UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) territories. With approximately 30% of the region falling within MAB UNESCO areas, the initiative seeks to create a shared methodology for managing these territories, positioning Piemonte as a national model for integrated development policies.
