Italian regional ecological and environmental initiatives
Overview
Italian regional authorities have initiated various ecological and environmental protection programs. In Puglia, the regional government approved an additional 19.7 million euros for green infrastructure, totaling 41.1 million euros to enhance climate resilience through increased green spaces and tree planting. This was followed by a specific allocation of 2.7 million euros dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems within Natura 2000 sites, targeting the restoration of seabed habitats like Posidonia oceanica meadows.
In Piemonte, regional authorities launched a pilot project focused on integrating environmental protection with sustainable economic development within UNESCO Man and the Biosphere territories.
