Piedmont officials meet to strengthen ties with Argentine-Piedmontese communities

Davide Nicco, President of the Piedmont Regional Council, met with Hernán Trossero, President of the Federación de Asociaciones Piemontesas de Argentina (Fapa), to discuss the enduring cultural ties between Piedmont and Argentina.

The relationship is rooted in the Great Emigration of the 19th and 20th centuries, which saw nearly two million people from Piedmont move to Argentina. Trossero leads a federation of approximately fifty associations dedicated to preserving Piedmontese language, music, and traditions.

Discussions focused on the importance of engaging younger generations to maintain these ancestral links. A congress of South American Piedmontese associations is scheduled to take place in Buenos Aires in April 2027.
