Piedmont region combats extensive wildfires with volunteer firefighters

The Piedmont regional government thanked the volunteer AIB firefighters for their critical role in battling dozens of forest fires that have burned across the region since late June. From June 27 to early July, the AIB recorded 82 wildfires, with ten still active, deploying about 1,300 volunteers who logged over 8,462 operational hours, used 515 vehicles and covered roughly 33,250 km. The hardest‑hit areas included Cravagliana, Premosello‑Chiovenda Moncucco, Valprato Soana, Oulx‑Borgata Royeres and a new fire in Valstrona‑Forno.

In a separate note, the president of the Consorzio Forestale praised the firefighters and local officials for their cooperation during the July 15 blaze near Beaulard, thanking the fire service, the vice‑mayor of Oulx and the forest consortium staff for their professionalism and safety record. The coordinated effort underscores the importance of volunteer and institutional collaboration in managing the ongoing wildfire emergency in Piedmont.
