Pierre Gasly blames Alpine aerodynamics after Hungarian GP
Pierre Gasly qualified twelfth for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, acknowledging that Alpine's A526 lacks consistent aerodynamics and overall pace. The French driver deliberately preserved a fresh set of soft tyres for the race, accepting a weaker qualifying result to give himself a better strategy on race day.
Gasly said the car’s aerodynamic instability has been a recurring problem throughout the season and expressed hope that upgrades planned for the next round at Zandvoort will restore competitiveness. He noted that rivals such as Racing Bulls, Audi and Aston Martin have already gained significant time advantages.
Team‑mate Franco Colapinto also struggled, finishing 15th after a similarly uncompetitive weekend.
