Pierre Gasly blames Alpine errors after Silverstone Grand Prix
French driver Pierre Gasly said a series of problems cost him a better result at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. After qualifying 12th, a radio‑communication issue led to a three‑place grid penalty for obstructing Lance Stroll, forcing him to start the race from 15th.
During the race a slow pit stop of about 7.5 seconds allowed teammate Franco Colapinto to overtake him, leaving Gasly in tenth place while Colapinto finished ninth. Alpine still earned three championship points, which the team welcomed despite the setbacks. Gasly added that a safety‑car period and a five‑second penalty to Kimi Antonelli helped secure the points, but he emphasized that accumulated errors – the radio penalty, the faulty pit‑stop system and other issues – “cost us performance”.
Alpine’s team expressed satisfaction with the points haul but acknowledged the need to improve the car’s consistency and stop‑procedure reliability for upcoming races.
