Pierre Gasly restored to Monaco GP third place after FIA admits timing error

After the Monaco Grand Prix, Alpine appealed the two five‑second penalties imposed on Pierre Gasly for alleged speeding in the pit lane. The FIA review found a 77‑centimetre fault in the timing loop that mis‑recorded speeds, and revoked the penalties, reinstating Gasly to the official third‑place finish.

The correction altered the points table: Isack Hadjar fell to fourth, Oscar Piastri lost a spot, and other drivers moved down the order. McLaren and Red Bull announced they will appeal the revised classification, while Mercedes is also examining its options. Alpine said, “We welcome the FIA decision to consider our Right of Review and restore the third place.”
