Pietracatella investigation awaits Berlin toxicology results in ricin poisoning case
Investigators in the Pietracatella case are awaiting decisive toxicology results from the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin to clarify the deaths of Antonella Di Ielsi and her daughter, Sara Di Vita. The two women died last December after being poisoned by ricin.
Authorities are currently investigating the possibility of a premeditated double homicide. Strong evidence has led investigators to focus on how the victims came into contact with the toxin, specifically looking for traces on clothing or food remnants. The investigation includes 131 samples taken in July, as well as items seized from the victims' home.
While informal indications from German experts support the theory of intentional poisoning, official reports are still pending. Investigators are also examining the personal and family relationships of the victims, including the role of Gianni Di Vita, the father and husband. Meanwhile, the defense for Gianni Di Vita maintains that accidental intoxication remains a possibility.
