In a recent development, investigators discovered several ricin plants in various locations, including fields between Riccia and Lake Occhito, and near the Institute of Human Sciences in Casacalenda. While the plants are a source of the toxin, authorities stated that no direct link has yet been established between their presence and the deaths. Recent investigative efforts have focused on analyzing seized items, including two water bottles—one white aluminum and one black plastic—containing colorless, odorless liquids, as well as a glass container holding a dark granular substance.
