Pilot Killed in Small Plane Crash in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil
On the morning of 30 May, a small single‑engine aircraft crashed into a residential area of Vila Bandeirantes in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, at approximately 09:45 a.m. The only occupant, 69‑year‑old pilot Lucas Augusto da Silva Neto, was found dead at the scene. The crash damaged the house’s yard but caused no injuries to residents. Fire‑fighter squads from the Queimados quarter responded, isolated the site and recovered the pilot’s body, which was taken to the Instituto Médico‑Legal. The Brazilian Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA) and local police opened investigations; the cause of the accident remains unknown. Authorities plan to conduct a technical examination of the aircraft and its flight data to determine what led to the loss of control.
