Pinamar reports economic boost and crime wave during Enduro del Invierno
The Enduro del Invierno event in Pinamar produced contrasting outcomes, marked by significant economic activity alongside a surge in criminal incidents.
Mayor Juan Ibarguren reported a positive economic impact, noting that the event boosted tourism during a typically low season. Hotel occupancy exceeded 60 percent, with some establishments reaching full capacity. The competition also stimulated local commerce and gastronomy, creating temporary employment and increasing consumption in the region.
However, the weekend was also characterized by a wave of thefts targeting residents, tourists, and competitors. Reported crimes included the burglary of a racing pilot's home, the theft of high-performance motorcycles from hotels, and the disappearance of three Toyota Hilux pickup trucks near the race site. Additionally, authorities investigated the unauthorized flight of a Bell 206B Jet Ranger helicopter over the area during the event.
