Pingtung County launches Pt Original musical series

The Pingtung County Government has introduced its new cultural brand, ‘Pt Original’, featuring a series of three original musical productions scheduled from October to January. The initiative aims to transform local culture into professional stage works and establish a distinct cultural brand for the region.

The upcoming productions include:

• ‘Gang Qian Zai’: Produced by Starry Theater, this immersive performance will take place on October 24 at the Donggang Donglong Temple courtyard, blending professional theater with local folk culture.

• ‘Drifting Peninsula’: A folk-rock musical debuting on December 19 and 20 at the Hengchun Cultural Center, combining traditional Hengchun Yueqin with modern electric guitar.

• ‘The Day of Marriage’: An indigenous musical by Lan Tian Le Ji, scheduled for January 30 and 31 at the Pingtung Arts Center, exploring themes of love, family, and cultural identity through the lens of indigenous wedding traditions.

The county government has supported local creation through ten original programs to date, fostering talent by involving professional artists and local residents in the production process.
