Pink faces petition to remove UNICEF Ambassador status

A petition on Change.org calling for the removal of singer Pink from her role as a UNICEF Ambassador has gathered over 127,000 signatures. The campaign was launched on September 11 following Pink’s public comments regarding rapper Macklemore’s pro-Palestine stance.

The controversy began when Macklemore expressed support for Palestine during a performance opening for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Following the performance, Pink criticized the presentation, leading to a heated discourse. Organizers of the petition argue that Pink’s remarks are divisive and incompatible with the neutrality required of a UNICEF representative, who should advocate for all children regardless of political affiliation.

Pink, who has served as a UNICEF Ambassador since 2015, defended her position by citing her Jewish heritage and her belief that innocent Palestinian lives must be protected. While the petition continues to grow, UNICEF has not yet announced any changes to her status.
