PIO Fund Director announces pension increases in Irig

Relja Ognjenović, director of the Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO Fund), met with approximately 250 pensioners in Irig to discuss social welfare and upcoming financial measures. During the forum, Ognjenović announced that state aid totaling 377.2 million euros is scheduled for disbursement on September 14, noting that these funds were secured without additional borrowing.

Ognjenović also announced a new alignment of pensions expected before the end of the year. He noted that while average pensions in Irig have risen from 19,000 dinars in 2012 to nearly 45,000 dinars today, further adjustments are necessary.

Andreja Savić, president of the Association of Pensioners of Serbia (SAPENS), emphasized the importance of direct communication with pensioners, particularly in municipalities where income levels fall below the national average. Tihomir Stojaković, the Mayor of Irig, noted that the forum allowed citizens to address issues that local self-government cannot resolve independently.
