Poland observes Papal Day to support student scholarships

On October 11, 2026, Catholic communities across Poland observed Papal Day, themed ‘John Paul II – Disciple-Missionary’. The day serves as a tribute to the legacy of Saint John Paul II and focuses on supporting the ‘New Millennium Work Foundation’ (Dzieło Nowego Tysiąclecia).

Collections were held in various parishes to provide scholarships for talented but underprivileged students and pupils. In the Archdiocese of Krakow, Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś emphasized that the initiative aims to support young people who desire to learn but lack the necessary financial conditions, rather than merely supporting an abstract structure.

Parish activities included special Masses, rosary prayers, and commemorative events. In Trzciana, the community dedicated a new monument featuring a figure of Saint John Paul II and a stone rosary to mark the occasion.
