Piraí do Sul receives relief supplies after tornado damage

The State Civil Defense has delivered 2,600 fiber-cement tiles to Piraí do Sul in the Campos Gerais region to assist in reconstruction efforts following a tornado that struck on Saturday (8).

The tornado primarily impacted rural areas, damaging 45 properties, including six houses that were completely destroyed, two agricultural warehouses, and a health center. A total of 530 people have been affected, with 35 residents currently displaced and staying with friends or relatives. This delivery follows the previous distribution of 20 mattresses and dormitory kits.

Local authorities are currently working with the State Civil Defense to prepare documentation for a formal State of Emergency decree. This declaration would allow the municipality to bypass standard bidding processes for humanitarian aid, restore essential services, and access additional resources and credit lines for affected farmers.
