Piraeus: Four individuals assault two police officers

Two police officers serving at Athens International Airport were assaulted in Piraeus during the early hours of Sunday, August 30. The incident occurred around 05:00 near the E8 exit of the Piraeus port while the officers were waiting for the X96 bus to transport them to their duty.

According to reports, a grey car stopped in front of the officers, and four individuals exited the vehicle. One of the individuals reportedly confronted an officer, asking, “Why are you looking at me?” Despite the officer's attempt to de-escalate the situation by asking to be left alone, the group attacked both men, punching one officer in the head.

A passerby alerted the authorities, and police arrived shortly after to transport the injured officers to a hospital for medical treatment. Law enforcement is currently reviewing security camera footage to identify the four suspects and trace the route of the grey vehicle used in the attack.
