Greek police seize 26.8 kg of cocaine linked to Albanian criminal network

Greek authorities, specifically the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) and its DEOS unit, have seized an additional 26.8 kg of cocaine in Attica. This discovery follows a major operation on September 9, where 84 kg of cocaine were intercepted. The new seizure is linked to the same criminal network, as the cocaine blocks bear identical markings to those found in the previous operation.

Investigations, supported by information from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), suggest the drugs were part of a large-scale illegal import from Colombia. The criminal group reportedly used a method of concealing narcotics within bouquets of flowers to bypass customs. The 26.8 kg of cocaine was found hidden in a construction site and a specialized underground space, including a large water tank and a pit-like area.

In a related development, Greek police arrested Lulzim Caka, an Albanian criminal leader known as ‘the terror of Berat,’ in connection with cocaine trafficking. Caka, who was previously wanted in Albania for murder and had an extradition request denied by Greece in 2022, was apprehended at a villa alongside his son. During the initial September 9 operation, authorities recovered 2 kg of cocaine, chemicals, packaging equipment, a pistol, and a luxury vehicle.
