Pirin Blagoevgrad faces potential loss of professional football license

The Bulgarian Football Union's Licensing Commission is expected to revoke the professional license of the Second League club Pirin Blagoevgrad due to ongoing financial issues. The club previously operated under a conditional license because of outstanding debts to the National Revenue Agency (NAP).

Reports indicate that the club's debts to the revenue agency reached 205,600 euros and continue to grow. This financial instability has led to unpaid salaries and the departure of many players, forcing the team to rely on 16-year-old players. While management reportedly expressed readiness to pay 49,000 euros toward the debt, the payment has not yet been made.

Amidst these challenges, the club's owner, Georgi Kalpakchiev, announced his intention to withdraw and transfer his shares for free. However, the transfer to interested veterans and local businessmen has not yet occurred. On the pitch, the team recently secured a 3-2 victory against Lokomotiv Mezdra in the Bulgarian Cup, marking their first success of the season following an 11-game losing streak in the league.
