Pisa and Naples implement new nightlife and security regulations

Italian cities Pisa and Naples are implementing new regulations to manage nightlife, known as 'movida', aiming to balance economic activity with urban security and residents' rights to rest.

In Naples, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has signed an ordinance effective from October 16 to November 16. The measures target specific areas across five municipalities, including Chiaia, Vomero, the historic center, and Quartieri Spagnoli. The rules include a ban on the sale and takeaway of alcoholic beverages between midnight and 6:00 AM. Closing times for businesses are also restricted: by 1:00 AM from Sunday to Thursday, 2:00 AM on Fridays, and 3:00 AM on Saturdays. Violations may result in fines ranging from 25 to 500 euros, potential business suspensions, or revocation of permits.

In Pisa, Prefect Maria Luisa D’Alessandro and local business associations, including Confcommercio Pisa, have signed a “Patto per la Movida Sicura” (Safe Nightlife Pact). This strategic agreement focuses on participatory security and cooperation between law enforcement and commercial operators. The protocol aims to combat illegal commercial activities, protect minors, and establish a code of conduct for customers while supporting the local economy. A monitoring committee will meet every six months to evaluate the results and update intervention lines as needed.
