Pisa launches unified museum and monument pass

The City of Pisa has launched the ‘Pisa Card,’ a new electronic cumulative ticket designed to integrate access to various cultural sites and promote sustainable mobility. Priced at 24 euros, the card provides single entry to several major institutions, including Palazzo Blu, the Medieval Walls, the Museum of Ancient Ships, the National Museums of Palazzo Reale and San Matteo, the Certosa di Calci complex, the Botanical Garden, the ‘Edda Bresciani’ Egyptological collections, and the University Museum of Graphics.

The card offers different validity periods based on user type: one week for tourists and one year for local residents. Access is managed via QR code validation at each site. Additionally, the pass includes one hour of free use of the Ciclopi bike-sharing service, allowing users to pause rentals during museum visits.

Developed as part of the city’s Tourism Development Plan and through the Destination Management Organization (DMO), the initiative is a collaborative effort involving public institutions, private entities, and universities. Mayor Michele Conti described the launch as a ‘historic day’ for the local museum system, aiming to encourage visitors to explore areas beyond the most famous landmarks.
