Pity Álvarez hospitalized after traffic accident in Buenos Aires

Argentine musician Cristian “Pity” Álvarez has been hospitalized at Hospital Tornú following a severe hypertensive crisis. The medical emergency occurred late Tuesday night, shortly after Álvarez was involved in a traffic accident in the La Paternal neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

During the early hours of Tuesday, Álvarez was driving a Volkswagen Bora when he performed a reversing maneuver at a Shell service station, colliding with a Peugeot 208 that was fueling. While no injuries were reported in the collision, the driver of the other vehicle reported that Álvarez left the scene without providing required documentation.

Legal representatives for the musician, including Sebastián Queijeiro, have expressed grave concern regarding his health and mental capacity, noting that he “cannot remain alone.” The medical crisis has cast uncertainty on his ongoing homicide trial related to a 2018 incident, as a scheduled hearing involving several witnesses was potentially impacted by his hospitalization. Álvarez is currently in intermediate care under medical observation.
