Pix evolves in Brazil with CAIXA installments and new contactless limits
CAIXA has introduced a new feature called 'Parcelar Pix,' allowing eligible individual customers to installment-pay transfers and payments directly through the CAIXA app. Depending on the customer's credit limit and risk analysis, transaction amounts can range from R$ 300 to R$ 50,000, with repayment terms of up to 12 months. The recipient receives the full amount instantly, while the payer manages the installments.
In a separate development regarding the evolution of the Pix system in Brazil, the fixed R$ 500 limit for contactless Pix payments is set to be removed starting October 1, 2026. Following this change, transaction limits will be determined by the customer and their financial institution. This shift is expected to impact the corporate market, as banks face increasing pressure to integrate payment processing with more intelligent financial management tools for businesses.
