Pix reaches record 318 million daily transactions in Brazil

The Brazilian instant payment system, Pix, reached a new daily record of 318,073,816 transactions on Friday, September 4. According to data from the Central Bank’s Instant Payment System (SPI), the operations moved R$ 186.89 billion, with an average transaction value of R$ 587.58. This surpasses the previous record set on December 5, 2025.

The surge in volume is attributed to the beginning of the month and the legal deadline for formal workers to receive salaries. Pix has become a central pillar of the Brazilian economy, used for transfers between individuals, business payments, and tax collections.

The system's growth occurs amid a commercial dispute with the United States. The U.S. government has included Pix in an investigation into Brazilian practices, alleging the tool creates unfair competition for American companies in the payments sector. The Brazilian government has rejected these accusations, defending the infrastructure as an internally developed and regulated system.
