Piyush Goyal concludes official visit to Germany and Netherlands
Indian Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has concluded a multi-day official visit to Germany and the Netherlands aimed at deepening bilateral economic and technological cooperation. In Germany, Goyal engaged in high-level talks with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche, participated in business roundtables, and met with a delegation of approximately 100 Indian businesses and startups.
A central focus of the visit was advancing the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and strengthening industrial partnerships. Goyal also addressed the Indian diaspora in Berlin, praising their peaceful conduct and discussing strategies to address the ‘brain drain’ by creating policies to attract Indian talent back to the country.
Following the German leg, Goyal traveled to the Netherlands to advocate for stronger economic ties. He proposed combining Dutch technology with Indian entrepreneurship and scale, suggesting that the Netherlands, particularly Rotterdam, could serve as a strategic launchpad for Indian brands expanding into the broader European market.
