Pizza Hut sold by Yum! Brands for $2.7 billion
Yum! Brands has finalized the sale of Pizza Hut in a two-part transaction totaling approximately $2.7 billion. This divestiture marks the end of Yum! Brands' 30-year ownership of the pizza chain.
In the first transaction, LongRange Capital acquired Pizza Hut's operations outside of mainland China for $1.5 billion. This deal includes more than 15,500 restaurants across more than 100 countries. Following the sale, Eduardo Luz has been appointed as the Interim CEO of Pizza Hut. The previous global CEO, Aaron Powell, resigned effective September 1, 2026.
The second transaction involved the sale of Pizza Hut's mainland China business to Yum China Holdings for $1.2 billion. Yum! Brands may receive an additional $75 million by 2030 if certain performance targets are met.
Yum! Brands stated the sale allows the company to focus on its core brands, including KFC, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger & Grill. LongRange Capital, a private equity firm, intends to use its resources to support franchisees and invest in the brand's digital and operational growth.
