Pizza Hut global ownership restructuring

The Pizza Hut brand has undergone significant ownership restructuring globally. Yum! Brands has finalized a two-part divestiture totaling approximately $2.7 billion, ending its 30-year ownership of the chain to focus on core brands such as KFC, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger & Grill.

In mainland China, Yum China Holdings completed a $1.2 billion acquisition of the brand, transitioning from a licensing agreement to full ownership. This transaction may include an additional $75 million payment to Yum! Brands by 2030 if specific performance targets are met. Yum China intends to use this ownership to accelerate expansion, targeting over 6,000 locations by 2028.

Concurrently, the sale of Pizza Hut’s operations outside of mainland China to the private equity firm LongRange Capital was finalized for $1.5 billion. This portion of the deal encompasses more than 15,500 restaurants across over 100 countries. LongRange Capital plans to invest in the brand’s digital and operational growth while supporting franchisees. Following the resignation of former global CEO Aaron Powell, effective September 1, 2026, Eduardo Luz has been appointed as Interim CEO.
