PKP Intercity sets uniform 11.90 zł charge for baggage, bikes and dogs

Effective 23 July, Polish rail operator PKP Intercity introduced a single extra‑service fee of 11.90 zł for transporting luggage, bicycles and dogs. The change replaces earlier differentiated rates – baggage fees rise from about 5–6 zł to 11.90 zł (over a 130 % increase) and bike fees climb from 9.10 zł to 11.90 zł, while the ticket for a dog drops from 15.20 zł to 11.90 zł, a reduction of roughly 22 %.

Small dogs carried in a compliant carrier travel free; larger dogs require a ticket, a leash, a muzzle and up‑to‑date rabies vaccination. Bicycles may only be placed in designated spots; folded bikes or strollers are exempt. Passengers who buy the extra‑service ticket on board must also pay a 20 zł boarding surcharge. The new pricing is posted on the operator’s website and applies to all trains equipped for these services.
