PKR Youth urges restoration of BUDI95 fuel quota

PKR Youth has called on the Malaysian government to restore the monthly fuel quota under the BUDI95 targeted subsidy programme. The group is requesting that the ceiling be raised back to at least 300 litres per month, following a reduction from 300 to 200 litres implemented in April due to rising global oil prices and Middle East conflict-related costs.

PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim suggested that the government implement a more responsive mechanism rather than a single fixed ceiling for all recipients. He proposed an additional allowance of up to 350 litres for specific groups with higher mobility needs, such as long-distance commuters or individuals who rely on their vehicles for their livelihoods. Munim emphasized that the proposal does not advocate for unlimited subsidies or the abandonment of fiscal discipline, but rather calls for a policy that adapts to improving fiscal positions and changing economic conditions.
