Plan Cuautla launched to restore peace in Morelos

The governments of Mexico and Morelos are implementing the ‘Plan Cuautla,’ an integrated intervention designed to restore peace and improve living conditions in the eastern region of Morelos. The initiative combines security measures with investments in education, economic development, culture, and infrastructure to address the root causes of violence.

Governor Margarita González Saravia announced that the state government will allocate 477 million pesos between September and December to address various needs in Cuautla, with additional resources planned for 2027 to ensure project continuity. The Governor emphasized the support of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo in prioritizing this territory.

On the security front, authorities reported that over 119 individuals involved in generating violence have been detained through joint federal and state efforts. José Luis Rodríguez Díaz de León, representing the federal Secretariat of Security and Protection of Citizens, stated that the plan follows the National Public Security Strategy, utilizing intelligence, investigation, and inter-institutional coordination.
