Overview
The ‘Plan Cuautla’ is an integrated intervention by the Mexican federal and Morelos state governments aimed at restoring peace and rebuilding the social fabric in the eastern region of Morelos.
Initial efforts focused on social and cultural initiatives, including educational orientation programs in the Gabriel Tepepa neighborhood and mass cultural events such as symphonic and tropical music concerts. These activities were designed to strengthen community ties and provide access to literacy and vocational training.
As the initiative progressed, the scope expanded to include significant security and economic components. Governor Margarita González Saravia announced an allocation of 477 million pesos between September and December to address regional needs, with further resources planned for 2027. On the security front, joint federal and state efforts have resulted in the detention of over 119 individuals linked to violence, following the National Public Security Strategy through intelligence and inter-institutional coordination.
