Frontier Developments launches Planet Zoo 2 on PC and consoles
Frontier Developments has released Planet Zoo 2 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The management sequel builds upon the original 2019 title, introducing new features such as fully customizable aquariums and aviaries, allowing players to manage aquatic and flying species for the first time.
Players act as Conservation Coordinators for the Fauna and Ecosystems Network (FEN), tasked with managing zoos and restoring wildlife reserves to release animals into thriving ecosystems. The game features over 130 animal species and includes various modes: Career, which follows a narrative progression; Franchise, which allows for building a global zoo empire and trading animals with other players; and Sandbox mode for unrestricted creativity.
While the game has received praise for its improved building tools, high-fidelity animal graphics, and expanded conservation focus, some players have reported technical issues upon launch. On Steam, user reviews have noted bugs regarding staff pathfinding, guest behavior, and general stability, leading to a lower positive rating compared to the first installment.
