Environmental and social initiatives across Italy

Various local environmental and social initiatives are taking place across Italy. In Bari, youth from the Nicola Fornelli juvenile detention center are joining volunteers from Plastic Free and Seconda Chance APS to clean Parco Perotti as part of a national mobilization to promote environmental education and social reintegration.

In Tuscany, detainees and volunteers are participating in plastic collection efforts in Livorno and Prato. Meanwhile, in Pesaro, a Repair Café event focused on sustainability and manual craftsmanship was held to combat throwaway culture.

In Alghero, a new urban hygiene organization is being implemented, introducing a door-to-door waste collection system with updated schedules for the city and surrounding areas. In Gela, the Caposoprano and Fondo Iozza neighborhood committee held its first assembly to address local issues such as road safety and the need for adequate green spaces for children.

Other regional developments include the formalization of land expropriation processes for a new bypass in Santeramo, and environmental protests regarding the Noce Mattei landfill expansion in Sulmona and the Cava Fornace landfill in Pietrasanta.
