Plastic Free leads student and volunteer cleanups across Italy
In Lecco, the Politecnico di Milano's Lecco campus hosted a sustainability day for 46 international students. The participants attended training on plastic‑pollution reduction and then collected about 20 kg of plastic waste from the campus grounds, supported by eight faculty members and Plastic Free Onlus representatives.
Separately, volunteers from the "Spiagge pulite" operation cleaned the mouth of the Oreto River in Sicily. About 60 volunteers removed roughly 1.5 tonnes of litter, including plastic, glass and polystyrene, and uncovered 20 buried electric scooters. The effort was organised by Plastic Free together with Despar Sicilia, and the waste was handed over to the local waste‑management firm Rap.
