Plataforma Unitaria Democrática proposes National Unity Agreement for Venezuela
The Plataforma Unitaria Democrática (PUD), Venezuela’s primary opposition coalition, has announced a proposed ‘National Unity Agreement’ to coordinate democratic leadership and various social sectors toward a national transition. The proposal will be presented to the country and opposition leader María Corina Machado.
The roadmap aligns with a three-phase plan supported by the United States involving stabilization, recovery, and transition. The PUD is calling for concrete results from ongoing political dialogues, specifically demanding the establishment of an independent National Electoral Council (CNE) and a definitive electoral schedule to ensure free and verifiable elections.
Coalition executive secretary Roberto Enríquez noted that while Washington remains a fundamental ally, there are differing perspectives regarding Venezuelan migration to the U.S. The opposition emphasizes that economic recovery and social stability—addressing crises in electricity, water, health, and education—are essential components of the national reconstruction process.
