Plateau State court restrains NDC governorship candidate
A Federal High Court in Jos, Plateau State, has issued a restraining order against Jonathan Akuns, preventing him from presenting himself as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The order follows an ex parte application by Alfred Dapal, a governorship aspirant who challenges the party’s nomination process. Dapal claims he was the candidate produced during the NDC nomination exercise held on 15 September.
The court has also restrained the NDC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from replacing Dapal or recognizing Akuns as the party’s candidate for Plateau State pending the final determination of the suit.
