Plateau State gunmen ambush patrol, kill two security officers

In the early hours of Tuesday, gunmen ambushed a joint security patrol on the Ganawuri‑Sabon Gida road in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. Four operatives from two security agencies had set up a roadblock; two failed to return to their posts, were later found dead and their service rifles were taken.

Security forces launched cordon‑and‑search operations in surrounding communities to locate the attackers and recover the stolen weapons. The identities of the slain operatives had not been confirmed, and attempts to reach Plateau State Police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo and Operation Enduring Peace media officer Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh were unsuccessful.
