Plateau State attacks leave multiple dead in bus ambush and community raids

A series of violent attacks across Plateau State has resulted in numerous fatalities. In Jos South Local Government Area, gunmen opened fire on a commercial bus at Dungus Junction, killing at least nine passengers. Among the deceased was the bus driver, Ibrahim, and a member of the state security outfit, Operation Rainbow. One passenger reportedly survived the ambush.

Simultaneously, multiple attacks were reported in Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas. In Mangu, the Mwaghavul Youth Movement reported killings in the Kikyau, Larkas, Ntul, and Kinat communities. One specific incident in the Aloghom area of Mangu involved the killing of three teenage herders and the loss of approximately 50 cattle.

In Riyom, separate attacks resulted in at least two deaths in the Tahoos area. These incidents follow recent security meetings held by the Nigerian Army's 3 Division, highlighting ongoing volatility and communal tensions in the region.
