Plateau State, Nigeria: Militant attacks kill at least 15 Christians

A series of coordinated attacks by armed militants, identified by community leaders as Fulani terrorists, has left at least 15 Christians dead in Plateau State, Nigeria, between September 21 and 25.

In Barkin Ladi County, violence occurred across several villages, including Chit, Gassa, Bet, Rakwok, Razat, and Rakung. In Rakwok village, five Christian commuters were killed when their vehicle was ambushed. In the Gassa community, three people were killed. Additionally, a shooting near the Bethany Christian Academy on the outskirts of Barkin Ladi resulted in one death and threatened the institution.

Earlier in the week, a pastor, a church worker, and a believer were among 13 people killed during a weekend assault in Dorowa Babuje. The pastor and an employee were shot dead, while the pastor’s son was left in critical condition. These incidents follow reports of heightened violence in the region, with some sources indicating that 41 people were killed and at least 100 kidnapped across the country in a single week.

Bulus Dabit, president of the Mwaghavul Development Association, condemned the violence, stating that the attacks are causing widespread fear. While government officials have promised relief and protection, local reports link the massacres to radical Islamist Fulani militants.
