Plateau State troops arrest woman and recover firearms

Troops from Operation Enduring Peace, supported by local hunters and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have arrested a 30-year-old woman, Halima Ibrahim, in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The security operation was conducted in the Kisayi and Dogon Daji settlements following the abduction of Dr Abraham Owoicho on August 19.

During the raid, Ibrahim was allegedly caught attempting to flee with AK-47 magazines. A subsequent search of her residence in Kisayi B resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a locally manufactured revolver, a military jungle hat, and three mobile phones. Ibrahim reportedly claimed the recovered rifle belonged to her husband, Ibrahim.

The suspect and the seized items have been handed over to the military. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the firearms and to identify potential links to kidnapping syndicates and illegal arms trafficking networks in the region.
