Plateau State troops rescue kidnapping victims and seize illegal guns

On 24 June 2026, troops of Operation Enduring Peace (Sector 9) carried out an offensive in Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan LGA, Plateau State, rescuing eight victims of a kidnapping. The operation involved a brief firefight, after which three victims escaped during the clash and five more were retrieved as troops combed the forest.

Two days later, on 26 June, troops from Sector 4, Sub‑Sector 41 in Gashish, Plateau State, stopped a motorcycle, arrested 21‑year‑old Alpha Nanfwang, and recovered three locally fabricated rifles believed to be part of an illegal arms shipment. The suspect and firearms were taken into custody while investigations continue to locate the escaped passenger and determine the weapons' intended destination.
