PlatinumGames signals intent to continue Bayonetta franchise

PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba has indicated that the studio intends to continue developing the Bayonetta franchise. In a recent interview with Famitsu, Inaba stated, “We have a strong desire to further develop the character of Bayonetta and expand her world,” though he declined to provide specific details regarding future titles or release dates.

These comments come despite a significant exodus of key talent from PlatinumGames, including series co-creator Hideki Kamiya and Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata. The franchise's future remains tied to rights holders Sega and Nintendo.

Additionally, the discussion touched upon the upcoming release of Stellar Blade: Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for November 5, 2026. The game will feature a crossover event including four Bayonetta-themed costumes. Inaba also commented on the potential of the Nintendo Switch 2, describing it as a console with “enormous potential” for expanding gameplay possibilities.
