Quintana Roo municipalities implement education, security, and utility reforms

In Puerto Morelos, Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz distributed 150 scholarships to primary and secondary students with academic averages between 9.0 and 10. The municipal investment of 450,000 pesos provided 3,000 pesos to each recipient, distributed between the municipal seat and Leona Vicario.

In Playa del Carmen, residents have staged road blockades on Avenida Constituyentes to protest persistent power outages. Local authorities report that the electrical grid is saturated, while the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) has identified illegal connections as a contributing factor to the service interruptions.

Simultaneously, Mayor Estefanía Mercado has implemented security and infrastructure measures in Playa del Carmen. This includes the rehabilitation of the public lighting system on Avenida Universidades, involving the installation of 226 LED luminaries and new cabling to improve safety and mobility. The administration also maintains 24/7 surveillance filters in coordination with the National Guard and the Navy to prevent crime.
