PlayStation Store migrates to Mexican pesos amid pricing errors
Sony is migrating the PlayStation Store in Mexico from US dollars to Mexican pesos to regionalize its products and comply with local authority demands. This transition, which began on August 18, has resulted in technical errors and pricing discrepancies.
Some users reported seeing incorrect prices for upcoming titles, such as Grand Theft Auto VI listed for only 99 pesos. While some customers viewed these errors with humor, others attempted to complete purchases and were unable to do so, leading to complaints directed at Profeco, Mexico’s consumer protection agency. Profeco has responded to these reports, requesting that affected users contact them to initiate formal claims.
The migration also affects PlayStation Plus subscription tiers. The three levels—Essential, Extra, and Deluxe—are now displayed in pesos, though users are reminded that taxes are charged independently and are not included in the initial listed price.
