Plaza Rural auction in Uruguay offers 15,119 cattle and 964 sheep

Plaza Rural held its 325th auction on July 23‑24 in Montevideo, presenting 15,119 cattle and 964 sheep for sale. The event, streamed by Todo El Campo and other platforms, took place from the Hotel Cottage and used financing from the Banco República del Uruguay (BROU) with a 180‑day credit line. An AI‑driven WhatsApp service, Pria, was launched to provide real‑time auction information.

The upcoming Expo Prado 2026, organized by the Asociación Rural del Uruguay, is set for September 11‑20 in Montevideo and will break previous records with more than 3,000 registered animals. The show will include 1,582 bovine, ovine, equine, swine and caprine breeders, plus over a thousand poultry and rabbit entries, featuring dominant breeds such as Aberdeen Angus cattle and Texel sheep.
