Plenković meets EU Council President and announces aid for Croats in Bosnia

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met with European Council President António Costa in Zagreb to discuss EU defense policies, competitiveness, enlargement, and support for Ukraine. The discussions also covered the EU's Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028–2034 and Croatia's use of the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility. Plenković emphasized Croatia's support for EU enlargement based on individual progress and highlighted the importance of the European path for Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically noting the need for equality among its three constitutional peoples.

In a separate initiative regarding regional stability and community support, Plenković announced 36 million euros in aid for the Croat community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This funding, distributed through 600 contracts, aims to finance projects that encourage Croats to remain in the country by improving their quality of life, supporting social development, and renovating sports facilities. Plenković noted that the budget for the Central State Office for Croats Abroad has grown from 16 million euros to 200 million euros over the last decade, with approximately 700 million euros invested in Bosnia and Herzegovina during his mandate.
